EV - the theme of the exhibition - translates from Turkish as "Home." We are used to considering something fundamental, immovable as our home - a safe place to which we can always return. However, many of us are suddenly deprived of a home, which triggers waves of forced emigration. Today, Turkey brings together many people who have had to say goodbye to their homes for various reasons - some have had their homes taken by war, others by earthquakes, and some cannot return home because their home has rejected them, whether it be their family or an entire country. We all face the trauma of a lost home - and this pain is so strong that it cannot be suppressed by anything. In our attempts to find solace, we ask the question: What is home, after all? When we lose our home, where do we find it again? Artists from different countries come together to try to answer this question through their art.
The exhibition will feature artists from 11 countries (Turkey, Syria, Ukraine, Russia, India, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Belgium, Indonesia, Georgia) who will literally transform the exhibition space into a home for everyone — that’s how the exhibition will be designed.
In addition to the main exhibition, the program includes calming morning meditations, an art therapy workshop on collage creation, an immersive mono-performance, video art screenings, and physical training for creating performances.
